Flood Control/ Hydrology Projects
RJR is a leading industry expert in the fields of stream restoration and hydraulic analysis of natural channel systems. RJR’s experiences with U.S.G.S., U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Caltrans, Department of the Navy, and other agencies have led to some specialized experience in watershed hydrology and stream hydraulics. Numerous (over 500) projects involving hydrology, wetland mitigation, flood control, and other related issues for residential, tract, and commercial developments throughout Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties.
RJR has developed some innovative approaches to stream channel stabilization and restoration. As the complexity of the project development has increased, so have the requirements for protecting the public from flood hazards and drainage threats. Government agencies are requiring greater sophistication in resolving drainage concerns. RJR is in the forefront of successfully addressing these problems in a timely and cost-effective manner.
RJR has extensive experience in successfully coordinating numerous floodway revisions with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, and State of California Department of Fish and Game, for local governments and private parties. Analysis methods involve hydrologic/ hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS, HEC-1, TR-20, HEC-RAS, HEC-2, HEC-5, HEC-6, HEC-8, and FLO-2D and other locally and nationally accepted tools. Major design projects include riverbank protection and restoration, creek channelization, retardation design, erosion control plans, and storm drainage design.
